Participants of this online webinar explored the concept of “reading between the lines”, or identifying literary subtext.
The program guided participants through the following content areas: How this concept features in the Australian Curriculum; What is subtext? Identifying subtext in a narrative text; Analysing the character; Studying dialogue; Studying the character’s behaviour as a clue; Studying information provided by the author; Analysing the setting; Analysing plot development.
The PD offered a range of classroom activities for each one of these content areas - some 18 in total (each with multiple examples or options to cater for individual needs) and referenced well over a dozen sample texts.
